Sixth Week of Development!

Step into the arcade!

Marsescent: Dragon’s Lair is about Owen Stone, old detective on a case where 5 children have gone missing in an arcade. He has to navigate his way through the strange arcade with only one of the employees helping guide him through and giving out information. Eventually, his search leads him to the basement, where he must play through one of the VR games stashed away and defeat the creature that’s taken hold of it.

Welcome into our sixth build release!

To give you some context, our studio was created for our college's Game Simulation class where we have ONE semester to create an entire game! This is our sixth week of working and we are still going strong! Let’s take a look into our week:

On the programming side…

The programmers added some assets into our platforming section and in our other mini games. They also did a lot of bug fixes, and some dialogue changes, as well as tried to change up the controls for the platformer, but it wasn’t really enjoyed…. We also had a little bit of a loan situation, where one of our programmers will be helping the other team with their game!

On the art side…

The artists were working on making assets for the platforming section and textures, as well as starting to animate more models. The professors expressed their concerns for the aesthetic of the game, so they will be keeping that in mind while working on models and textures.

What’s next?

For the programmers, they will be reverting the controls for the platformer to what they once were, as well as tweaking with the camera and messing with the level design of the platformer.

For the artists, they will be texturing the assets, creating more models, and animating.

Spring Break!

The past week was spring break! A lot of people stayed home and relaxed, while others had to work the whole week… I was lucky enough to get to hang out with a few people from both teams! We had a blast talking about how our week went, and what each team was up to.

In Conclusion…

With the semi-restful break, I think everyone is able to give their all again. Our professors say we only have about 4 weeks to add stuff, so we are using these final moments to add what we can to make our vision come true.

If you’ve read this far, why not follow us here, twitter, and instagram! We will post a devlog once a week describing the what happenings of the past couple days.

Thanks for tuning in, and here’s to more updates,

RetroCyber Studios (PS: Our team isn’t the only team in our class! Check out the other team’s game here )
